We worked together at the Capitol - Jake Marsing

Jai and I met as legislative aides at the Capitol. His office was just down the hall from mine, and he left an immediate impression on me. Both being from BoCo, he and I became really friendly. We did lunches together regularly and I loved making fun of BoCo Dems EC meetings with him. We also rode RTD in together every morning and usually took the same shuttle from Union Station to Civic Center together and would chat about what was going on in our respective offices. I really came to love the guy. I just checked my last texts with him from June when I’d won an award and he reached out to congratulate me, and I asked him how he was and he said “You know, up and down” and he wanted to get together and catch up. I’m going to regret not following up more for the rest of my life. I loved picking his brilliant mind and occasionally lovingly ribbing him, which he gave back. He was just the best.
